SRDC postgraduate scholarships
SRDC will support funding in 2010 for three postgraduate scholarships which foster training in technical and social disciplines relevant to SRDC’s research priorities.  Feedback from past scholarship winners has been extremely positive in supporting students to complete projects. Application kits and forms will be available from the resources section of this website following SRDC’s next call for applications in June 2010.

SRDC Innovation in R&D Awards 
SRDC annually rewards an individual or group who has played a leading role in promoting and delivering innovative research. This award offers a $15,000 prize and a perpetual trophy. In 2009 Horizon Science, took out the 2009 Innovation Award honour for their involvement in producing the world’s first all natural low glycemic index (GI) cane sugar. Applicants should forward their nomination to SRDC at reports@srdc.gov.au by 22 March 2010.  The winner will be announced at the Australian Society of Sugar Cane Technologists conference in Bundaberg 11-14 May 2010.

Science and Innovation Awards for Young People in Agriculture
Each year the Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry, SRDC and other Rural Research and Development Corporations sponsor awards for young peopleon to pursue their innovative scientific ideas that will develop long term benefits to Australia’s rural industries. In 2009 sponsorships of $20,000 were given to 13 young Australians aged between 18 and 35 years who work or study in the agriculture, fisheries, and forestry, food or natural resource industries.  SRDC’s 2009 sponsorship winner Mira Durr has used her grant to investigate the carbon and nitrogen cycling microbial communities in acid sulfate soils. Applications for the 2010 awards will open in August 2010.  Read more

Sugar Technology Innovation (STI) scholarship
Each year SRDC, Sugar Research Institute and QLD University of Technology offer up to five STI scholarships. STI scholarships encourage a revolutionary research approach to traditional sugar milling processes and emerging associated technologies, such as co-generation, ethanol, and biofuels and fibre utilisation. Scholarships are available to Australian or international students undertaking a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD), Masters by Research, or Professional Doctorate. The next call for 2011 scholarships will open in November 2010.  Read more
