Grower group projects given green light Seven grower groups will receive funding from SRDC to conduct projects in their region from 2010. Growers have again proved their willingness to embrace innovation, to investigate everything from cane grub control methods, new irrigation techniques, and mapping of soil electrical conductivity patterns. “Through their research, these groups will help the local industry modify their farming systems to improve environmental and economic performance". SRDC invests in building the capacity of industry people SRDC will fund five key Capacity Building Projects aimed at providing members of the sugarcane industry with travel and learning opportunities. SRDC Executive Director said these projects help to create a culture of innovation in the industry through developing our people which is vitally important.
